I have been doing professional photography since 1998. I began my career as an event and wedding photographer for a local photography studio in Columbia, MO.

In 2002, I graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors in Fine Art. My emphasis of study was in Photography and Graphic Design. I began doing part-time freelance work, portraits and weddings in 2002 as David Owens Photography.

From 2006-2008, in addition to doing weddings and other part-time photography, I was employed full-time for University of Missouri Health Care as their Photographer. There I served the needs of the Hospital system, School of Medicine, University of Missouri Health Care (UMHC) Public Relations, UMHC Marketing and UMHC publications. I obtained invaluable experience while working in this position in many facets of photography such as marketing, commercial, publication, public relations, event and medical photography. Examples of my photography work can be seen in UMHC 2006, 2007 and 2008 Annual Reports, mid-2006 through 2008 UMHC and University Physicians Marketing ads, Summer 2007, Winter 2008 & Fall 2008 ELLIS magazine, UPDate newsletter, internal UMHC publications such as Archives, medical textbooks and University of Missouri School of Medicine publications.

As of June 2008, I left UMHC to work full-time for my business DO GO LLC, a partnership venture with my wife Gail. One of the companies that is under that umbrella is David Owens Photo-Graphy, where I offer free-lance photography and graphic design. I provide photographic services such as wedding coverage, portraits, headshots, family portraits, baby portraits, events photography, publication photography, commercial photography, real estate photography, fine art and landscapes. I also provide graphic design services in logo design, identity design, print design, publication design (such as Touchstone for the University of Missouri School of Health Professions) and website design.

My education, experience and constant exploration have expanded my knowledge and artistic skills in Photography, Graphic Design and the Fine Arts. My photography is often termed as contemporary and photo-journalistic. My skills are far-ranging and I am always up for a challenge. But far greater is the one who gave me these gifts-God.

I am a Christian striving to run a Christian company. Our beliefs are simple and tied to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are led by scripture-God’s word, prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Several years back, I realized that I was in need and that I had not let Jesus truly have rule in my life. Without Jesus Christ in my life, I was going nowhere. I had a need, as has all humanity, for a Savior. Since then I have put my trust in God and I have surrender to him. I want to acknowledge him in all things good. God has redeemed me with my confession, repentance and submission to him and my acceptance of Jesus Christ as my redeemer and Master. He has turned my life around and he has been blessing me and my family continually.

The Bible says in Matt 7:

17Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’24“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

“Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.

Why Jesus?

Jesus says in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Unlike what many may claim, there is only one way to Heaven and that is through Jesus Christ. For in I John 2:23 it says “No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.”

You see, my challenge in life is to present and to boldly proclaim Jesus Christ. It would be wrong of me not to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It would be wrong of me to say that I follow Christ and not try to spread love, joy and the good news of salvation that is found in Jesus.

As I mentioned earlier, I am married to my beautiful wife Gail. We have a blended family. Currently we have four beautiful children, two boys and two girls. We also are expecting another child in August 2010. This will be Gail and my first child together.
